A Tale of Two Pillows
A pillow is safe.
It holds secrets,
Muffled cries, tears.
It comforts.
It cuddles back.
It allows for deformation
And resumes its shape,
Unperturbed.
It forgets.

A pillow is fearsome.
It brings dreams.
Or fails to bring dreams --
A companion of insomnia,
Tossed about,
Tossing the body above.
It muffles the cries of the victim,
Stifles breath.
It resumes its shape,
Unperturbed.
It forgets.
